I hope to soon post a follow-up to this article, with a few more of the insights into Group Centred Leadership I have learned. The chapter immediately continues in the direction in which you are suggesting.
One of the key concepts in the chapter is that leadership should be seen as a function and not a role. The role of the initial leader is to create the opportunity for the group to become less dependent on a leader, and to distribute the functions of leadership.
